Black Entrepreneurship

A collective of entrepreneurs with a goal to educate, empower and elevate black business owners across NC.

What is the Black Business Collective (BBC)?

The Black Business Collective is a collection of successful, innovative Black business owners to help facilitate and promote black entrepreneurship through their network.

We held our first summit in 2021 but our goal is much larger than the summit itself. We want to continue conversations over time to help Black business owners grow their brands and businesses. As the saying goes, “your network is your net worth”, and we hope that those involved with the collective develop meaningful connections that remain intact for years to come.

This initiative is made possible in part by a grant received from NC IDEA to support Black businesses in our state. In addition to this generous support, we were honored to have these partners for our first event.

The 2021 Summit

In August of 2021, we hosted our first virtual summit where over 200 attendees learned ways to grow their businesses. Topics covered included:

Black Entrepreneurship

Black business owners are typically at a disadvantage when compared to their white counterparts. Of the 2M+ Black-owned business in the US, many owners do not have some of the foundational skills needed to sell their services and market their business. Additionally, most Black business owners are not able to get outside funding.
