I've always been fascinated by the Fillmore East since I live close to its location. Many of its posters had a Bill Graham/Haight-Ashbury vibe, but this graphic design style was already very dated by 1970, and never as popular on the East Coast. Just as Davis' concerts in the summer of 1970 would have drawn upon his vast catalog of bebop and more experimental fusion work, my design attempts to evoke classic bebop LP covers while still appearing as modern and forward-thinking as Davis' sound in this period.
