When debuting his new major label release titled, ‘good kid, m.A.A.d city’, Kendrick Lamar looked to Creative Allies to create an original design for a poster to promote his debut EP. Our community rose to the challenge by submitting hundreds of high-quality designs from across the globe. Our ability to harness the power of culture and authenticity led to an unforgettable experience K-Dot fans will never forget.
Creative Allies is known for working with emerging talent across all genres and industries. In 2012, Kendrick was pushing out his first major label release and was looking for a unique fan experience to promote the record. Multiple artists from the Creative Allies community were selected as finalists in this contest and got an opportunity of a lifetime by having their work displayed at an art show hosted by K-Dot himself.
The semi-private art show took place in Brooklyn, NY and featured twenty original pieces of art from the Creative Allies community as well as a live performance from Kendrick Lamar. While only one Grand Prize Winner was selected, these finalists were able to have their art showcased by the artist himself and that is something they will never forget.
Here are some of our favorite designs from this contest.
